TEHRAN (NIPNA) -- Iran’s Urmia and Ilam Petrochemical Plants have broken their production record in the first 11 months of the current calendar year, which began on March 21.

According to the Managing director of Iranian Petrochemical Investors Group, Urmia Petrochemical and Ilam Polyethylene plants have registered a new production record in the first 11 months of the current calendar year in comparison with the same period last year.

Rasool Ashrafzadeh said the Sulfur Removal Unit of Ilam Petrochemical Plant was being completed and prepared for startup, adding the olefin unit of the plant would also be complete by late March.

He further said that Lordegan Petrochemical project was about 96% complete and would hopefully come on-stream by next year.

The official said that Gachsaran Petrochemical Plant had also gained 59 percent progress and was being developed for production of a million tons of olefin.

Ashrafzadeh said that the licensing round for Dehdasht Project had been carried out this year for its development under an EPC+F contract, adding the financing of the project was being pursued from China and the National Development Fund of Iran.

He said the development of Sadaf Assalouyeh project was 40 percent, adding an investment of €102 million was to be made in the project by tapping foreign resources and the rest of the financing would be supplied by domestic resources.
