Speaking to
NIPNA, Ehsan Saghafi voiced the society’s support for the petrochemical industry,
saying the industry played a key role in the country’s economy and prevented
sale of crude oil and gas as well as raw materials.
He said Iran
enjoyed massive potentialities in developing downstream industries, adding
SIPIEM was ready to cooperate in this regard.
Saghafi said
Iranian manufacturers had mastered production of sophisticated items and parts
used in various sectors of the petroleum industry, adding the petrochemical sector
has been able to generate revenues for the country despite the US sanctions on Iran.
“We view the
petrochemical industry as a lucrative one whose development would help the development
of other sectors,” he added.
