The projects were built with $6.47 billion and include such projects as
Kurdistan Petrochemical Project, Ilam Petrochemicals, Lorestan Petrochemical
Complex, Urmia Sulfuric Acid Unit, Mahabad Petrochemical Complex, Shiraz
Petrochemical Complex, Karun Petrochemical Company, Takht-e Jamshid
Petrochemical Company, Phase II of Kavian Petrochemical Complex, Takht Jamshid
Pars Petrochemical Project, Entekhab Polystyrene Project, Morvarid MED Project,
Pardis Urea and Ammonia Project, Marjan Petrochemical Project and 2 utility services.
These complexes, in addition to developing the downstream sector of the
petrochemical industry and completing the value chain in the sector, have
created new export markets, jobs and value added in the country.
Under President Rouhani, the share of Iran's petrochemical industry in
the production capacity of major petrochemical products in the Middle East
region increased from 22.21% to 23.46 percent from 2013 to 2018.
Moreover, during the said period, Iran's share of global petrochemicals
production capacity has increased from 2.26 to 2.50 percent since 2013.
The number of active petrochemical facilities operating in Iran has
also increased by 26 percent from 43 to 54, and the country’s installed
capacity has risen by 14 percent since 2013.
