According to the Persian Gulf Petrochemical Industries Company
(PGPIC), Abolfazl Fathollahi, director of operations at Hengam Petrochemical
Plant, said that by launching the unit, the facility could curb burning of
hydrogen and consume it in the ammonia synthesis cycle of the facility which
increases its ammonia production capacity.
He said the hydrogen retrieval project was carried out by the flow of gases to
the burner and converts them to ammonia in the HRU.
He said that in this section, about 90 percent of the hydrogen
contained in the stream of gases (the gas sent to the burner to the initial reformer
or flare) is separated by polymer membranes. only then, the retrieved hydrogen is
used to produce ammonia in the to the synthesis cycle.
