Plans under way to Launch 100-MW Solar Power Plant in Mahshahr

TEHRAN (NIPNA) – The managing director of Petrochemical Special Economic Zone Organization said plans were under way to build a 100-MW solar power plant in Mahshahr Petrochemical Special Economic Zone (PETZONE), southwestern province of Khuzestan.

"Energy management is one of the important issues that impact both our economic and operational aspects of our performance," said Omid Shahidinia in a meeting with the CEOs of petrochemical plants in the PETZONE.

 The official added: "The ISO 50001: 2011 approach should be pursued throughout the country, and the culture of energy control and management should be implemented at all levels."

 He said in the past two years, they had been trying to institutionalize the energy efficiency cultures and measures had been taken in that regard.

 “Fortunately, so far, we have made good progress in resolving the initial problems in our organization,” he said.

 A few months ago a 20-KW solar power plant was launched whose output is injected to the power grid in the region, he said.

 “We plan to create a 100-MW solar power plant and we hope to introduce this plant as a pilot project for industrial use to the regional companies, so that the companies in the region.”
