Speaking to NIPNA, a member of the Industry and Mine Committee of the Tehran
Chamber of Commerce, said the development of the petrochemical industry had
become an effective solution for economic growth and generation of jobs in the
country.
Ferial Mostofi said: "While the country faces economic sanctions by
the US, the petrochemical industry can generate value and contribute heavily to
the country’s non-oil exports.”
"The speed of progress in the petrochemical industry should
accelerate in the country to reach the point where, in addition to supplying
the domestic market, the markets of the region will be accessed; this will be
achieved through convergence and unification."
She said the petrochemical industry was one of the main pillars of the
resilient economy in the country, adding, “The industry has been lucrative despite
the country's currency problems."
The member of the Tehran Chamber of Commerce stressed the need for
accelerating construction of petrochemical projects: "To achieve the predetermined
goals for the development of petrochemical industry, in addition to new
investments and completion of projects under construction, sale of raw
materials should be avoided and the mix of exported goods shall be enriched.”
