TEHRAN (NIPNA) -- Iranian Minister of Petroleum Bijan Zangeneh issued a decree on Monday, appointing Behzad Mohammadi as the new CEO of the National Petrochemical Company (NPC).

Mohammadi replaced Reza Norouzzadeh as NPC CEO.

By taking his new post, Mr. Mohammadi, a graduate of chemical engineering, has also become deputy petroleum minister for petrochemical affairs.

Previously, he served as the managing director of Oil Industries' Engineering and Construction (OIEC) and managing director of Oil Industries Commissioning and Operation Company (OICO) among other key posts in Iran’s oil industry.

The appointment came as the current NPC CEO, Reza Norouzzadeh, is stepping down because of retirement.
