Reza Nourouzzadeh paid a visit to Mahabad and Miandoab petrochemical plants
in northwestern Iran last week during which he met with the officials and
executives of the plants and learned about the latest developments in the
facilities. The two plants are being fed by West Ethylene Pipeline which
transfers feedstock from South Pars gas field in southern Iran to the western
provinces of the country.
During his visit, the official underscored the need for supporting
domestic manufacturers, adding the country enjoys massive capacities which need
to be endorsed.
The parts manufacturing unit of Mahabad Petrochemical Plant supplies a wide
range of equipment needed in petrochemical operations including the testing
equipment with 10,000 bars/gram for conducting PSV tests. The designing and
manufacturing of the item was fully carried out in the facility by domestic
experts.
The unit has also successfully developed a heavy duty cutting machine
which can cut items as big as 2,100 mm.
Mahabad Petrochemical Company uses solar panels and the internet of
things to energize its site modules and transfer data. The complex now receives
42 tons per hour ethylene from the West Ethylene Pipeline and produces 30,000
metric tons of butane 1 and 300,000 tons of polyethylene annually. 3 tons per
hour of polyethylene is produced in Mahabad.
The plant is currently operating at 15% of its nameplate capacity.
