TEHRAN (NIPNA) -- A senior petrochemical official said Iran is poised to see its petrochemical output increased by launching new facilities over the course of the current Iranian calendar year which began on March 21.

Speaking to NIPNA, director of the projects at the National Petrochemical Company (NPC) Ali Mohammad Bossaqzadeh, said Kaveh Petrochemical Plant (with 2.3 million tons of methanol production per year), Marjan Petrochemical Project (with 1.6 mt/y of methanol production capacity), and Phase I of Bushehr Project are among the facilities planned to come on-stream this calendar year.

He said by the time the projects came online, Iran's production capacity would increase dramatically.

Phase I of Bushehr Project comprises three units of ethane recover, gas refining and methanol production. The project is planned to come online in the near future, he added.

Bossaqzadeh, who is also a member of the board of directors at the NPC, further said that phase I of Ibne Sina Petrochemical Company was also planned to become operational this calendar year.

He also named Bidboland II and Ilam petrochemical projects as other plans which would come online this year.
