Shiraz Petchem Plant breaks Production Record

TEHRAN (NIPNA) – Shiraz Petrochemical Plant supplied a total of 3.564 million tons of petrochemical goods over the course of the previous Iranian calendar year of 1396, an unprecedented production record since the facility's inauguration 54 years ago.

According to the plant's public relations department, the plant's production rose by 8.9% year-on-year.

Shiraz Petrochemical Company was founded with an initial investment of about 400 million US dollars in 1959, in a 300-hectare area out of which 72 hectares is dedicated to infrastructures. The initial aim was to provide the fertilizer needs for the country. It now produces 1,850,000 tons/year of vast variety of chemicals and petrochemicals and is counted on as major petrochemical producer in the country.
