TEHRAN (NIPNA) – The CEO of Chabahar Free Trade Zone says the environmental permits for construction of 6 petrochemical utility facilities have been obtained, adding the projects, once operational, will turn the area into a petrochemical hub.

Speaking NIPNA, Abdolrahim Kurdi said the permits are essential for any petrochemical project to be constructed.

He said 6 out of 18 proposed projects have so far obtained the permits and will be used as utility plants in the area supplying water, power, and infrastructures.

The official also added that construction of three of the projects has begun already and the rest will begin soon.

One of the projects has so far made 40% physical progress, he said, adding each of the projects will need 1.2 to 1.7 billion dollars of investment for completion.

Kurdi further noted that the projects are estimated to come on-stream within a 22-month period.
