President of the Foreign
Investment Association of the Iranian Chamber of Commerce, Industries and Mines
Hossein Salimi told NIPNA that: "Fortunately, because petrochemicals are mostly
exported, they can generate revenue for the country and completing the value
chain in the sector can boost profitability of the produced items."
"Considering
the importance of employment in the country, attention should be paid to the
development of industries both in the upstream and downstream sectors. Now, employment
in the upstream sector of the petrochemical industry is less than its downstream
sectors which must be considered by policy makers," he added.
Emphasizing the
importance of attracting foreign investment for development and job creation in
the country, Salimi said: "Improving the business environment, entry of
foreign banks by building infrastructure and the healthy rating of banks,
encouraging foreign investment and the introduction of new technologies, are
some factors that can boost the production sector in the country."
