TEHRAN (NIPNA) -- Iran's export of petrochemical products witnessed a dramatic growth in the aftermath of implementation of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) in 2016, reports say.

Given the efforts exerted by the Rouhani administration since 2013, the level of petrochemical exports has risen from 12.8 million tons per year in 2013 to 20.85 mt/y in 2017.

However, the oil price slump has seriously dented the country's revenues over the years, in a way that petrochemical export revenues have fallen from 9.9 billion dollars in 2013 to $9.8b in 2017 despite the arresting growth in exports.

Iranian petrochemical producers have exported over 16.4 million tons of products in the first 3 quarters of the current calendar year, generating some $4.3b.

Iran struck a landmark deal over its nuclear program with the P5+1 group of countries in Vienna in 2015 and had it enforced in January 2016. The deal puts curbs on Tehran's nuclear agenda while easing some of the related sanctions.
