TEHRAN (NIPNA) -- Iran’s TJPAPC (Takhte Jamshid Pars Asaluyeh Petrochemical Complex has started production of two polystyrene grades.

Licensed by Japan’s Toyo, the item’s production is aimed at diversifying the plant’s output, said the company’s public relations office.

The produced items can compete with their foreign rivals, the office said, adding they can be sold on international markets as they meet the required standards.

TJPAPC is a successful example of a joint venture formed between an Iranian and a foreign company.

The plant has also been officially endorsed by Japan’s Toyo which means the products of the company do meet international standards and can be sold on foreign markets.

Polystyrene (PS) is a synthetic aromatic polymer made from the monomer styrene. Polystyrene can be solid or foamed. General-purpose polystyrene is clear, hard, and rather brittle. It is an inexpensive resin per unit weight.
