TEHRAN (NIPNA) -- Iran’s Entekhab Petrochemical Plant has devised plans to send polystyrene cargoes to European customers.

The plant that is one of the five petrochemical facilities at Iran’s styrene park in Asalouyeh, south of the country, came online in October and supplies flammable and inflammable grades of polystyrene.

The company currently exports products to various counties including Germany, Italy, Russia, South Africa, Brazil, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Ukraine and the Balkans.

The facility, with 250,000 tons of annual production capacity, is licensed by a German joint venture firm.

Polystyrene is a synthetic aromatic polymer made from the monomer styrene. Polystyrene can be solid or foamed. General-purpose polystyrene is clear, hard, and rather brittle. It is an inexpensive resin per unit weight.
