According to the National Petrochemical
Company (NPC) public relations department, Iran's petrochemical facilities are estimated
to yield nearly 60 million tons of petrochemicals while their rated capacity is
around 62 mt/y.
Comprising 57 active facilities, Iran's petrochemical industry is
private-run but regulated and supervised by NPC.
The plants operating at Mahshahr region, in
the southwestern province of Khuzestan, with a rated production capacity of
25.6 mt/y, produced 14.7 million tons of products during the 9 months.
Moreover, the plants operating in Asaluyeh,
the energy hub of Iran in the southern province of Bushehr, supplied 16.8 mt in
the three quarters.
