TEHRAN (NIPNA) -- Iran's revenues of petrochemical sales rose by 25% in the first three quarters of the current Iranian calendar year which began on March 21.

Speaking to NIPNA, Ali Mohammad Bossaqzadeh, director of production control at National Petrochemical Company (NPC), said Iranian petrochemical facilities yielded 40 million tons of products during the period which is a suitable level for the country's petrochemical sector.

"That production has risen shows that more downstream units are operating in the country and more feedstock has been supplied to the units," he noted.

The official further said that over 12 million tons of petrochemicals have been sold in the domestic market in the period, adding the amount is nearly 12% higher than the sales in the same period last year.

Many petrochemical facilities in Iran run on natural gas which is relatively cheaper than crude oil making the sector more lucrative in the country, he argued.
