Speaking to NIPNA, Ali Mohammad
Bossaqzadeh, director of production control at NPC, said that construction and
completion of development projects in the sector, given the fact that
value-added items are produced by the industry, can create a major development
in the petrochemical sector of the country.
Expressing satisfaction at the current petrochemical
progress in Iran, the official said that completion of the value chain is a key
strategy in the sector, adding production of end-user items can generate a lot
of value added which should be considered by petrochemical industrialists.
Bossaqzadeh, who is also a member of the NPC
board of directors, added that by relying on state-of-the-art technologies and
tapping domestic resources of skilled manpower, Iran's petrochemical industry
is progressing fast forward.
"Iran is anticipated to become a
major petrochemical power in the Middle East and the world by the end of the 6th
development plan," he added.
The official further said that policies
should be made in such a way that the private sector plays a more active role
in the industry and fresh investment both by domestic or foreign parties are
introduced to the sector.
