TEHRAN (NIPNA) -- The Institute for Interlaboratory Studies has certified Iran's Zagros Petrochemical Company (ZPC) for passing the body's Proficiency Testing (PT).

ZPC passed all the PT articles and acquired satisfactory marks in the test by IIS, touted as a credited laboratory testing system.

Participation to proficiency tests (laboratory evaluating interlaboratory tests) is considered mandatory for laboratories accredited according to ISO/IEC 17025 and EN 45003. Checking analyses results with those of other laboratories is an important third line quality control element. Corrective actions may be taken if the results deviate systematically.

"Proficiency Testing is the use of interlaboratory study to determine the performance of individual laboratories for specific tests and to monitor laboratories' continuing performance. Participating in PT-schemes provides laboratories with an objective means of assessing and demonstrating the reliability of the data they are producing" (quoted from ISO Guide 43)

Zagros Petrochemical Company was founded in 2000 within the framework of Iran third economic, social and cultural development program for achieving the global markets and gaining a considerable share of methanol market.

In order to enable the company to compete in international markets and considering the rich gas recourses in Pars Special Zone and its strategic location, 30 hectare land was allocated for ZPC and the production complex was founded in Assaluyeh, southern Iran.

The contract of basic engineering, detail engineering design and procurement of equipment was signed with consortium of Lurgi oil Gas chemise and PIDEC (Iran).
