TEHRAN (NIPNA) -- Ali Mohammad Bossaqzadeh, director of production control at National Petrochemical Company (NPC), says all urea suppliers are operating at a satisfactory fashion in Iran and the country needs no import of the item for consumption as fertilizer.

Speaking to NIPNA, the official said production of urea fertilizer is at a satisfactory state in Iran and the country exports the surplus production of the item once the domestic market is supplied with enough of the product.

"It must be stressed that a favorable discipline is ruling in the urea fertilizer market and all the petrochemical providers of the item are supplying it in accordance with their production plans," the official added.

Iran currently supplies 5.5 million tons of urea per year in such facilities as Kermanshah, Shiraz, Khorasan and Pardis petrochemical plants. The country's consumption is 2.2 million tons per year and the surplus output is exported.
