Plant in Petchem Talks with French Major

TEHRAN (NIPNA) -- Iran's Noori Petrochemical Plant is in talks with France's Axens on petrochemical cooperation.

Managing director of the plant Mojtaba Taheri told NIPNA that his company has started talks with the French company on launching a new heavy cut sweetening unit in the facility.

He said the unit is being developed for production of 2 million tons of petrochemicals annually.

Taheri said Axens enjoys the technical savvy for developing the unit.

Once the talks are over, an EPC deal with be signed between the two companies and financing of the project will be put to tender, he added.

Noori Petrochemical Plant is one of the world's biggest aromatic producers with 5.4 million tons of annual production capacity.

The plant is fed by the gas refineries of the supergiant South Pars Gas Field.

It also consumers 270,000 tons of benzene pyrolysis from Jam Petrochemical Plant.
