TEHRAN (NIPNA) -- Maroon Plant has launched the first train of its compound unit which will add 60,000 tons/year of polymer compound to the country’s annual production capacity once fully operational.

Deputy managing director of the plant Mohammad Mehdi Gorji told NIPNA that this train can produce 15,000 tons of the item annually and the rest of the project, three production trains, will add 45,000 t/y to the plant’s polymer compound production capacity.

He said the unit can supply polyethylene, polypropylene and polyamide compounds and can be a crucial piece in completion of the petrochemical value chain in Iran.

Gorgi said an investment of 15 million Euros has been made for construction of the project, adding the rest of the project is scheduled to come on-stream by late March 2018.
