Speaking to
NIPNA, Abhari said the APIC has planned several seminars and events with the
aim of bringing together and integrating producers and exporters of
petrochemicals including methanol, urea and ammonia.
Iran
currently accounts for 14% of the world’s methanol production which will cross
20% once the country implements the methanol projects it has at hand.
“Iran is one
of the world’s biggest producers of urea and ammonia and will join the club of
major methanol producers soon,” he said, adding, “therefore, there is an urgent
need for integration of methanol exporters in order to be able to complete with
other producers of the world.”
Integration
of exports will instill Iran’s image in the world as a major supplier of
petrochemicals and bring the country international credit, the APIC chief
added.
