TEHRAN (NIPNA) -- An official with National Petrochemical Company (NPC) said export of polymer products by Iranian suppliers to Iraq has increased five times reaching 100,000 tons per year since 5 years ago.

Reza Mohtashamipour, an official with NPC, told a conference on plastic exports to Afghanistan and Iraq that more investments are needed in the markets of these two countries by Iranian petrochemical industrialists.

"Iran can become a suppliers of plastics industry machinery to Iraq and Afghanistan while providing after-sales services to its customers," he said.

"Iraq and Afghanistan account for 2 thirds of Iran's export markets," he said, adding the two countries are shaken by wars but circumstances will not stay the same forever in them.

Motashamipour further said that Iran provides for 40% of urea needs of Iraq and supplies 10% of the country's plastics industry machinery.
