TEHRAN (NIPNA) -- Iran's Bidboland Refining Company is in talks with France's energy major Total for construction of a new propane dehydrogenation (PDH) project in the refinery, the plant's managing director says.

Addressing a press conference on the sidelines of IranPlast Exhibition, Mahmoud Aminnejad said the gas refinery's construction project has progressed by 62%, adding the PDH project will be developed for completing the plant's value chain.

The official said construction of the plant will need an investment of nearly $1.5b, adding the company has initiated talks with international energy majors which are also licensors of PDH projects including Total, Japan's Mitsui and a number of other internationally renowned companies.

Once operational, the refinery will feed petrochemical plants along Dena Pipeline.

He said the facility's completion is planned to reach 75% by the current calendar yearend to March 20 2018.

"Construction and installation of the plant will complete by March 20 2019," he said, adding the project will come online in the calendar year of 1398.

Aminnejad said the project will generate 4,780 direct and over 8,000 indirect jobs.
