The
volume of petrochemicals produced by Iran's petrochemical facilities rose by 6
percent in the first 5 months of the current Iranian calendar year which began
on March 20 from the same period last year, Ali Mohammad Bossaqzadeh, director
of production control at NPC, said.
He said
the rise was made possible despite overhaul operations in a number of
petrochemical facilities across the country.
"The
level of production is acceptable for the industry, and a 5-million-ton growth
expected in the sector by March 2018," he added.
Last
year, petrochemical facilities operated at an average of 81% of their nameplate
capacity, Bossaqzadeh added, which is expected to cross 85% this year.
Iranian
petrochemical plants produced 18 million tons of products in the first 4 months
of the current Iranian calendar year which began on March 20, a new record in
the industry's 4-month output.
The
country is estimated to supply 56 million tons of petrochemicals during this
calendar year from last year's 51 mt.
