Iran Petchem Output Grows 9mt/y under Rouhani Admin.

TEHRAN (NIPNA) – Iran saw a 9-million-ton rise in its petrochemical output under President Rouhani since 2013, Iranian Minister of Petroleum Bijan Zangeneh said.

Speaking in a televised interviews on Sunday night, the official said Iran's petrochemical sector saw a 25% growth under President Rouhani.

Zangeneh, who on the same day secured parliament's confirmation for staying in Mr. Rouhani's cabinet, further added that the ease of international trading restrictions on Iran, the country must expect a huge leap in the sector as new projects are coming online.

He said enhancing production of oil, gas and petrochemical products are top on his agenda in the next 4 years to come, adding boosting the quality and quantity of petroleum products in downstream sector is also a great priority for him.

The recovery rate of the country's oil reserves is below 30% currently which means only 200 mb out of every 700 mb of oil can be recovered from Iran's oil reserves, said Mr. Zangeneh.

He also named Ab Teymour, Mansouri, the oil layer of South Pars gas field, Changouleh, Azar, Azadegan and Yaran as the most important fields to be developed over the next 4 years.
