Khorasan Petchem Plant's Output Exceeds Expectations

TEHRAN (NIPNA) -- Khorasan Petrochemical Plant, the biggest petrochemical facility in northern Iran, operated at over 100% of its nameplate capacity in the first 4 months of the current Iranian calendar year which began on March 21.

The plant supplied 342,000 tons of petrochemicals during the period which comprised 123,000 tons of ammonia (100% of the facility's capacity) and 212,000 tons of urea (113% of its capacity).

The company also supplied 7,500 tons of melamine during the four months.

The plant was the most prolific petrochemical facility in the country during the period for its output and is expected to reach 930,000 tons of output by the end of the year.

The facility was launched in 1996 in North Khorasan Province. It is fed by 258 mcm/y of natural gas.
