TEHRAN (NIPNA) -- Managing director of Fanavaran Petrochemical Plant Bahman Behzadi says the plant's methanol unit will hit full production tilt this year after 13 years of operation.

Behzadi said lifting of sanctions on Iran's economic sectors thanks to the implementation of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) has been pretty instrumental in the facility's growth and its methanol unit will reach 100% productivity this year.

He said the plant's methanol unit was launched in 2004 and has never operated at full capacity since then, but it will reach full production tilt this calendar year which began on March 21.

The facility comprises methanol, acetic acid and carbon monoxide units.

Relations with the plant's licensor, Denmark's Haldor Topsoe, were severed because of the sanctions, but after their removal, Fanavaran has resumed talks with the Danish licensor aimed at raising production capacity of the company, he said.

The official further added that a Revamp.IDFAN deal has been signed with Germany's Siemens for boosting power generation capacity of the facility's turbines and the items are under construction for the time being.
