TEHRAN (NIPNA) -- Production of petrochemical products by the plants operating in western provinces of Iran will rise as more feedstock is being supplied to them by West Ethylene Pipeline, a senior petrochemical official said.

Ali Mohammad Bossaqzadeh, director of production control at National Petrochemical Company (NPC), told NIPNA that the plants operating in the region will be playing a more significant role in the country’s petrochemical industry this year.
He said Iran’s petrochemical output is expected to grow by 7 million tons this year, adding over half of the production rise will come from facilities that have enhanced their production capacity and the rest will come from newly-launched plants.
Last calendar year (ended March 20), Iranian petrochemical companies processed over 50 million tons of petrochemicals, up 8% year-on-year, he added.
Bossaqzadeh also said that export of petrochemical products also rose by 17% last year from the preceding year in terms of weight and 10% in terms of value.
He also said that 7 new petrochemical projects are expected to come online by the end of the current calendar year to March 20 2018.
