MEG Unit Generates $300m for Morvarid Petchem Plant

TEHRAN (NIPNA) – The mono-ethylene glycol (MEG) has so far generated 300 million dollars in revenue for Morvarid Petrochemical Plant, the facility’s managing director says.

Speaking to NIPNA, Gholamreza Jokar said the unit has been operating for nearly a year at 90% of its nameplate capacity supplying 300,000 tons of MEG.
The unit is designed to supply 550,000 tons of MEG annually, he said.
Jokar added that 95% of the plant’s MEG output is exported to China and India each buying 350,000 and 70,000 tons of the products respectively. 
Moreover, Morvarid Petrochemical Plant’s ethylene unit operated at 80% of its capacity given supply of more feedstock from newly-launched phases of the supergiant South Pars gas field in Persian Gulf waters.
