TEHRAN (NIPNA) -- Managing Director of Shiraz Petrochemical Plant Abdolrehim Qambarian said his company's annually output is planned to reach 3.2 million tons next calendar year beginning late March.

Speaking to NIPNA, the official said the company has been able to tap nearly 84% of its nameplate capacity in the current Iranian calendar year which began on March 20, and is aiming to bring its total output to 3.2mt/y next calendar year.

He said the facility has adopted a clean development mechanism (CDM) in order to reduce its greenhouse emissions at its nitric acid and ammonium nitrate units to save the environment.

He said a sum of IRR 340b has been invested in the project in order to annually absorb 420,000 tons of Co2 at the facility.

The CDM turns N2O and No2 gases into nitrogen and oxygen.

He further said that the plant has other environmentally friendly projects for the coming year including a carbon dioxide recovery (CDR) and an adblue projects.

Adblue functions as a catalyst turning NOX gasses and turns them into oxygen and nitrogen. It is a urea-based compound that is injected to gasoil in vehicle.
