Iran Welcomes Coop. with S. African Companies in Petchem Projects: NPC

TEHRAN (NIPNA) -- Managing Director of the National Petrochemical Company (NPC) Marziyeh Shahdaei says there are vast potentialities for cooperation between Iranian and South African petrochemical companies, adding Tehran welcomes cooperation of Pretoria in petrochemical projects.

Speaking on the sidelines of a meeting with visiting South African Energy Minister Tina Joemat-Pettersson at NPC’s headquarters in Tehran, Shahdaei said method of investment and cooperation of South Africa’s private sector with Iran’s petrochemical industry were highlights of their meeting. 
She also said that the two sides discussed construction of a gas to liquids (GTL) plant in Iran during the meeting. 
“NPC and a South African company had previously reached an agreement regarding construction of the plant in Iran, and studies over the project had begun, but today it was decided that the plan to construct the facility will be finalized and the draft of an agreement will be devised in this regard,” the NPC chief said. 
For her part, Tina Joemat-Pettersson voiced her country’s support for enhancement of cooperation between S. African companies with their Iranian opposite numbers, expressing hope that during Iranian President Hassan Rouhani’s visit to Pretoria, the agreement for construction of a GTL plant will be signed. 
“South African private companies are keen on cooperation with Iranian partners and joint investmnts in Iran,” she said.
