TEHRAN (NIPNA) -- Noori Petrochemical Plant has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Administration of Environment of the Southern Province of Bushehr for saving humpback dolphins in the Persian Gulf.

The deal was signed on Saturday in a ceremony held on the sidelines of an international environmental exhibition in the province.

Noori Petrochemical Plant signed the document as an environmental measure to support the endangered species.

Humpback dolphins are characterized by the conspicuous humps and elongated dorsal fins found on the backs of adults of the species.

They are found close to shore along the coast of West Africa (Atlantic species/variety) and right along the coast of the Indian Ocean from South Africa to Australia (Indo-Pacific species/varieties).
