Iran Takes Major Step in Cooperation with Universities in Oil Industry

TEHRAN (NIPNA) -- Three major national Iranian downstream companies have signed 12 research deals with universities and study centers in a major push to enhance the technological level of the downstream petroleum sector.

 

The deals were signed between the National Petrochemical Company (NPC), the National Iranian Gas Company (NIGC) and the National Iranian Oil Products Refining and Distribution Company on Monday. 

4 of the documents concerned the NPC which were signed with Shiraz, Amir Kabir and Tarbiat Modarres universities as well as the Iran Research Center of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering. 

Based on the deals, Shiraz University will cooperate with NPC in construction of a methanol research institute. Furthermore, Amir Kabir universities will do the same for establishment of a poly-olefin catalyst research center, said Shahdaei. 

The other two institutes will be focused on olefin and propylene research projects. 

The deals were signed in a ceremony that saw the presence of Iranian Minister of Petroleum Bijan Zangeneh.

During the ceremony, the official said the deals were valued at IRR 7,200 billion in their first and second phases. 

He said the documents were signed in line with the policies of the economy of resistance that were instructed by the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Seyyid Ali Khamenei.
