TEHRAN (NIPNA) -- Iranian petrochemical companies are in close contact with Germany firms to tackle environmental hazards and conduct wastewater management strategies, an HSE official with National Petrochemical Company (NPC) said.

Hamid Reza Ajami, director of the Health, Safety and Environment Department at NPC, told the Iran-Germany Wastewater Management Conference held in Tehran on Saturday that management of industrial wastewater is one of NPC's major priorities in Iran, adding, "We need to put more focus on the issue regarding the growth of the industry and diversity of produced items."

"The available infrastructure for managing wastewater and petrochemical waste is not enough in Iran and we are optimistic we would develop in this area by tapping the latest technological provided by German companies in Iran," he added.

Held with the aim of introducing the latest technological developments in managing petrochemical waste and industrial wastewater, attracting finances and transferring the technologies to Iran, the conference was held in the presence of senior Iranian and German environmental officials.
