Iran Eyes 30 Petchem Projects under 6th Development Plan

TEHRAN (NIPNA) -- Managing Director of National Petrochemical Company (NPC) Marziyeh Shahdaei says Iran is expected to launch 30 petrochemical projects with $40b of investment by the end of the 6th 5-year development plan.

 

Addressing a press conference on Wednesday at NPC's headquarters, Shahdaei said 50 petrochemical projects are being constructed in Iran with 41.3 million tons of annual production capacity. 

Completion of the projects will need 23 billion dollars in investment, she said.

Marziyeh Shahdaei, who is also deputy petroleum minister in petrochemical affairs, said NPC has defined 30 projects to be completed under the 6th development plan that is set to be set in motion next calendar year starting on March 21. 

She said five of the projects will concern upstream petrochemical projects which would be financed by $8.5b and will be developed by petrochemical holding companies.

She said another 22 projects with 37.1 million tons of production capacity have also been defined by NPC which will be completed by the end of the 7th Development Plant of the country.

The NPC chief also said that Iran's total petrochemical output is expected to reach 64 million tons by the end of the calendar year to March 20.
