TEHRAN (NIPNA) -- The National Petrochemical Company (NPC) and Research Center of Petroleum Industry (RIPI) have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) for cooperation in petrochemical grounds.

The deal was signed during a visit by NPC Chief Marziyeh Shahdaei to RIPI on Tuesday.

During the visit, Marziyeh Shahdaei, who is also deputy petroleum minister in petrochemical affairs, met with senior RIPI officials and experts and learned about the center's capabilities and potentialities.

RIPI is the research arm of the Iranian Ministry of Petroleum.

"RIPI enjoys vast potentialities in terms of both research capabilities and skilled human resources in an unparalleled level in the region and there are massive grounds for cooperation between NPC and RIPI," said Shahdaei.

The petrochemical industry is a vast sector that required state-of-the-art technologies and catalysts that can be supplied with the cooperation of the RIPI, added the official.

Via the MoU, RIPI will assist the Petrochemical Research and Technology Company, an affiliate to the NPC, in a number of its projects.

Developing the technical knowhow for production of BaX molecular sieves for separation of Para xylene, recycling hydrocarbon vapors by adopting VRU technologies, adopting the Iranian SRU technology in petrochemical plants, recycling monomers with membrane technology in industrial scale, and treatment of industrial wastewater outage of petrochemical facilities are some of the areas in which RIPI can assist NPC with.
