TEHRAN (NIPNA) -- Iran has launched the third pressure boosting station of the West Ethylene Pipeline project in the southwestern city of Ahwaz.

The project was inauguration on Friday with an investment of €25m and nearly IRR 200 b, said the deputy managing director of the National Petrochemical Company (NPC) in the West Ethylene Pipeline project in an interview with NIPNA.

Abdolhossein Bayat said the station was fully designed and engineered by Iranian experts just like stations 1, 4 and 5.

Launching of the station brings the pressure of ethylene in the pipeline from 60 bars to 80 bars and can even raise it to 90 bars, Bayat said.

The project also generates jobs for 80 men and women directly, he added.

Financed by the government and 1,700km long, the West Ethylene Pipeline project will link Iran's coastal regions in the south to western and northwestern regions of the country.
