Speaking to NIPNA, Ramezan Owladi said the plant will receive more feedstock once phases 19, 20 and 21 of the supergiant South Pars gas field become operational next Iranian calendar year that begins on March 21.
He said phase I of the facility is now operating at 50% of its nameplate capacity and its second phase is 60% productive.
Kavian Petrochemical Plant is the provider of ethylene to the West Ethylene Pipeline project. The pipeline is being laid out to supply ethylene from southern Iran to 12 petrochemical plants across the country’s western territories.
The pipeline is currently delivering 140 to 150 tons of ethylene per hour that is used to feed Lorestan, Kermanshah, Ilam, Mahabad, Amir Kabi, Arvand and Qadir petrochemical facilities in western Iran, Owladi said.
He said new phases of the pipeline are being completed and will send ethylene to petrochemical facilities from South Pars to the northwestern province of Azarbaijan.
He said by operating at 50 to 60% of its nameplate capacity, the facility has reached its breakeven point and any more output would generate profits for the company.
Kavian Petrochemical Plant is being developed in two phases for production of 2 million tons of ethylene annually.
