TEHRAN (NIPNA) -- Construction of the poly butadiene rubbers (PBR) Of Takht-E Jamshid Petrochemical Company (TJPC) started on Monday.

The project’s construction began in a ceremony held on Monday in the presence of the managing director of Mahshahr Petrochemical Special Economic Zone (PETZONE) located in the southwestern province of Khuzestan.

During the ceremony Omid Shahidinia, PETZONE’s chief, voiced his support for the project, saying that petrochemical industry is viewed as the key lever to weaning the country off petrodollars.

He said petrochemical industries generate the largest number of jobs by creating highly valued items that would be necessary for developing the country.

PBR of Takht-E Jamshid Petrochemical Company is produced by the solution polymerization process and has very high elasticity and degree of resistance to dynamic stress, and retains these properties even at extremely low temperatures.

Blending natural rubber or styrene butadiene rubber with PBR improves abrasion resistance, crack resistance and heat build-up under dynamic load.

TJPC is now producing 50,000 tons per year of styrene-butadiene rubber (SBR) and PBR in its first phase.
