TEHRAN (NIPNA) -- Mahabad Petrochemical Plant has so far supplied 59.96 thousand tons of petrochemical products since its inauguration in January.

The company is touted as a strategic plant in western Iran and is one of the 12 plants fed by the West Ethylene Pipeline.
The company supplied 11.10 thousand tons of products in the month of Mehr (the 7th month in the Iranian calendar, September 22-October 21).
The plant can boost its output provided that it receives more feedstock.
China and India are the main export destinations of the facility.
The company can supply 300,000 tons of linear light and heavy density polyethylene. It can also produce 30,000 tons of butane I.
The plant needs some 324,000 tons of ethylene annually.
Once completed, West Ethylene Pipeline will feed 12 petrochemical plants by ethylene. Inaugurated in 2002, the project is aimed at supplying feedstock from South Pars gas field in Persian Gulf to western regions of the country to the northwestern province of West Azerbaijan after stretching through 11 provinces.
