The plant's methylene diphenyl diisocyanate (MDI)'s unit is ready for startup and the whole project will be operational by the end of the month of Abad (the 8th month in Iranian calendar- November 20).
Managing Director of the plant Afshin Kiani has said the company managed to launch its nitro-benzene, aniline and PMI units by receiving permits from the National Petrochemical Company (NPC) and the Persian Gulf Petrochemical Industries Company (PGPIC).
He said the PMI unit of the company has no likes in the Middle East and therefore they had to develop it by relying on domestic prowess. The unit is now operational at 50% of its production capacity.
Besides Karoun Petrochemical Plant, 6 other projects are on the go in Mahshahr Special Petrochemical Economic Zone located in the southwestern province of Khuzestan: Petro Energy Kimia, which has made some 73% progress; Martyr Rasouli Plant 70% progress; Salman Farsi Plant 13.13%, Arg 12%, Modabberan Shimi 8.28% and Polymer Ofoq 7.5% progress.
