Director of the facility Afshin Kiani has said the company launched its nitro-benzene, aniline and PMI units last year by obtaining licenses from the National Petrochemical Company (NPC) and the Persian Gulf Petrochemical Industries Company (PGPIC) last year.
He said the PMI unit of the facility is the best one in the Middle East, adding the project was carried out by domestic experts and despite all the difficulties that caused troubles.
Once productive, the MDI unit will be the Middle East's first supplier of thermal insulators, he added.
Methylene diphenyl diisocyanate, most often abbreviated as MDI, is an aromatic diisocyanate. Three isomers are common, varying by the positions of the isocyanate groups around the rings: 2,2'-MDI, 2,4'-MDI, and 4,4'-MDI. The 4,4' isomer is most widely used. This isomer is also known as Pure MDI. MDI reacts with polyols in the manufacture of polyurethane. It is the most produced diisocyanate, accounting for 61.3% of the global market in the year 2000.
